The ResMed AirFit™ N30i has a cushion similar to the AirFit™ N30. The big difference with the AirFit™ N30 is that the hose will connect at the top. Along with this, the frame and the straps are a little bit bigger as well. The N30i can be used with all CPAP machines except for the ResMed AirMini.

First, begin by disassembling your AirFit™ N30i CPAP mask. Once disassembled, soak the cushion in warm water and a mild liquid detergent, and ensure there are no air bubbles while soaking. Hand wash the cushion with a soft bristle brush, paying extra attention to the vent holes. Rinse the cushion thoroughly under running tap water. Shake the cushion to remove excess water and allow the cushion to air dry until there is no more moisture present.

It is important to clean your mask interface, tubing and water chamber frequently to eliminate bacteria and germs that can lead to respiratory infections and other complications. You should regularly clean your mask, tubing and water chamber as mentioned in the previous question or even with a clinical grade disinfectant such as Control III or Purdoux CPAP Wipes. How frequently you clean your CPAP supplies is a personal choice, but the importance of doing so regularly should not be underestimated.

The ResMed AirFit™ P30i is the nasal pillow version of the innovative AirFit™ N30i. The AirFit™ P30i is known to be one of the quietest masks on the market, checking in at just 21 decibels vs 24 decibels of the N30i. Even with this difference, both masks are considered to be whisper-quiet.

The AirFit™ N30i is available in four cushion sizes: small, medium, small wide and wide. To find the right cushion size, place the sizing gauge under your nose. Long, pointy noses will use the blue and red side of the gauge while short, wide noses will use the purple and gray side. Fitting a mask properly depends a great deal on your position. Facial muscles change when we lie down and relax even further once we’re asleep, so it’s always best to fit the mask while you’re in your sleeping position. Whether you sleep in a bed with no pillows or in a recliner, you should fit your mask in your usual sleeping position. Mask leak should not be ignored as any type of leak can compromise your ability to maintain positive pressure, which is an important aspect of therapy efficacy. It is imperative to replace your mask cushion often to ensure optimal therapy results even when it visibly may not appear to require replacement. Lofta suggests replacing your mask cushion or pillow every 30-days as a best practice. Many of our clients replace their entire mask and start fresh once or twice a year.

Your N30i CPAP mask headgear and chin straps may become stretched and lose their elasticity, leading to over-tightening and discomfort. They can also trap bacteria from sweat and moisture. Your mask headgear should be replaced every 6 months. Yes. You should remember, though, that every mask has slightly different characteristics, so if you're using a ResMed device, you'll need to change the mask setting on the user menu when you switch masks. Always refer to the mask/devices compatibility test when changing mask settings on your device.

In most cases, yes, but if you're using a non-ResMed APAP or bilevel device, you may want to check with the manufacturer to ensure it doesn’t compromise your sleep apnea therapy. The technical specifications of the mask are provided for your clinician or equipment supplier to check that they are compatible with a CPAP or bilevel device. If used outside specification or with incompatible devices, the seal and comfort may not be optimal.
