2022 Buyer’s Guide: CPAP Masks

Here at Lofta, we believe the mask is the MVP or Most Valuable Part of your CPAP therapy.

Why is that? Getting the right mask style and fit is essential to your success in therapy. Discomfort leads to frustration which can even result in stopping CPAP altogether. You might believe that “this just isn’t for me” or “I could never get used to this”. But we know if we can help you find the right style and size, the results will be life-changing!

Best CPAP Mask for Side Sleepers

AirFit™ P10 by ResMed

Our in-house respiratory therapists unanimously voted for the AirFit™ P10 by ResMed as the best CPAP mask for side sleepers. The P10 is the most minimal mask style on the market. Fewer components means fewer mask leaks, thinner headgear, and lighter overall. This mask style takes some getting used to. But if you can be patient, the AirFit™ P10 is the way to go.

If you tend to breathe mostly through the mouth, nasal pillow styles won’t do much good. If you’d still like to give it a shot, try pairing it with a chin strap to keep the mouth closed during the night.

  • Mask Type: Nasal Pillows
  • Cushion Type: Silicon
  • Sleeping Position: All

Best CPAP Mask for Mouth Breathers

AirFit™ F20 by ResMed

The all-encompassing AirFit™ F20 is a comfortable experience for all types of breathing. The soft, flexible frame moves with you as you sleep and the silicon cushion creates a best-in-class mask seal. With a quick release mount and magnetics straps on the front of the mask, taking it on and off is a breeze.

    • Mask Type: Full Face
    • Cushion Type: Silicon
    • Sleeping Position: Back

    Best CPAP Mask for Beards

    AirTouch™ F20 by ResMed

For our bearded friends, we recommend the AirTouch™ F20. While the softer feel of memory foam is more comfortable for all users, those with facial hair will especially like it. The AirTouch™ cushion creates the ideal mask seal without tugging at the hair.

      • Mask Type: Full Face
      • Cushion Type: Memory Foam
      • Sleeping Position: Back

Best CPAP Mask for Stomach Sleepers

      AirFit™ P10 by ResMed

Back again is the AirFit™ P10 as the best CPAP mask for stomach sleepers. Because the P10 doesn’t have any sort of plastic frame or large cushion, you can toss, turn and sleep on your stomach without interruption. We also recommend the CPAP Pillow as a companion to this mask for stomach sleepers. The strategically placed cutouts of the pillow make it ideal for the sometimes pesky CPAP tubing.

        • Mask Type: Nasal Pillow
        • Cushion Type: Silicon
        • Sleeping Position: All

Best CPAP Mask for Active Sleepers

        DreamWear™ Nasal by Philips Respironics

We recommend the DreamWear™ Nasal as an option for those who tend to toss and turn frequently. The key difference in the DreamWear™ line of products is the hose placement. With the hose at the top of the mask, it’s free to swivel as the body turns from side-to-side.

One user even said “Adjustable mask fits great and gives you complete freedom to sleep on your side. Feels like you're not wearing a mask at all after a few days.” - Timothy C. May 2022

          • Mask Type: Nasal Pillow
          • Cushion Type: Silicon
          • Sleeping Position: All

          Best New CPAP Mask

Evora Full by Fisher & Paykel

Fisher & Paykel rolled out an all-new mask this year called the Evora Full. This hybrid style gives the user an open line of sight for bedtime reading or TV and is one of the quieter masks on the market. For a full review, check out this video on our YouTube Channel.

            • Mask Type: Full Face/Hybrid
            • Cushion Type: Memory Foam
            • Sleeping Position: All

            Best Overall CPAP Mask

            AirFit™ P10 by ResMed

If you couldn’t guess it by now, the best overall CPAP mask in 2022 is the AirFit™ P10 by ResMed. From our trusted respiratory therapists to real users, this is the overall best choice for side sleepers, stomach sleepers, beards, and active sleepers. The minimalist design is extremely versatile and especially comfortable. As a disclaimer, this mask will take some getting used to. But with time, it can become your go-to CPAP mask for life.
