How does the equipment all fit together?
Your therapy system is most likely made up of a mask, tubing, therapy device and humidifier.
Take a look at your therapy system to see if you can identify all the parts.
Knowing what to do (and what not to do) when setting up your equipment can make all the difference to your treatment.
Here are some tips from ResMed.
Cleaning
You may not realize it, but over time your skin releases facial oils that can reduce the quality and performance of your seal and mask. So after wearing your mask, clean your mask thoroughly to remove any facial oils.
Clean the cushion of your mask every morning, after using it at night. That way, you will have a clean, dry mask ready to use for your next treatment. Cleaning your mask will also remove facial oils to optimize your mask’s seal.
To clean your mask, hand wash each day with mild soap. Avoid harsh cleaning products, which may damage the mask, or leave harmful residue. Allow to dry away from direct sunlight.

Device care
To be able to deliver consistent, high quality treatment, your device needs to be well maintained. A blocked air filter may impact on the pressure delivered to you. It’s important to regularly examine the air filter for holes or dust build-up. Refer to your user guide for specific recommendations on how often you should maintain your device.
Humidifier care
Maintaining your humidifier is important in order to achieve effective treatment and prevent the buildup of deposits.
After each use, we recommend that the water tub should be washed out with a mild detergent and warm water. Then it should be thoroughly rinsed and dried, away from direct sunlight. The tub should also be checked once a month for wear and deterioration. If any component has cracked or become cloudy or pitted, the tub should be replaced.

Replacing
It's important to replace your mask regularly to ensure that you maintain comfortable, effective therapy every night.

Q. How do I know if my humidifier is working?
A. Icons are displayed on the device screen to indicate when the humidifier is heating up or cooling down. The Sleep Report option on your AirSense™ 10 or AirCurve™ 10 device will indicate that your humidifier is working properly with a smiley face icon. See your user guide for a detailed list of icons and their descriptions.
Q. What does the humidifier smiley face in Sleep Report mean?
A. This means that the humidifier is working as intended for the current settings, and that there is no hardware fault.
Q. What happens if the water tub runs out of water?
A. Your device will function normally and safely without water in the tub, but it will no longer provide humidification.
Q. Can I fill my humidifier with tap water?
A. ResMed recommends that the water tub be filled with distilled water.
Q. What is warm-up mode?
A. The HumidAir™ heated humidifier will rise to a target temperature of 104°F over 20 minutes. The device then holds this temperature for a further 10 minutes, ready for therapy to start. If therapy does not commence in that time, the device will automatically enter cool-down mode, where it will blow a small amount of air for around 20 minutes to stop condensation forming in the device.
